Coming to Quito to find some adventure in the beautiful nature of the Andes? Have a look at these Quito day tours:
Mindo – Mindo is officially located at the coast region and is just 2,5 hours riding from Quito. Here you can start your day with a delicious brownie at a chocolate factory. Then you can go zip lining. Fly above the cloud forest during this 10-lines activity! Then you have time for a lunch and an optional activity. You can visit a butterfly garden, go tubing (own risk) or walk down to some stunning waterfalls. You will end your day at the equator museum.
Cotopaxi – Visit the highest active volcano in the world, while going down on a mountain bike. You will start the day with a beautiful hike at 3300 meters of altitude. Then you will go to the first base camp, to start your mountainbike trip. If you want, you can also go horseback riding in this beautiful park. (Note: these are two different day tours). Meanwhile, you can spot some horses, cows, rabbits, and if you are lucky also deers, foxes and the majestic condor.
Cayambe – The Cayambe volcano is the second most popular volcano of Ecuador, with an altitude . You can explore it while visiting Quito on this day tour. You will start the day with some local snacks and a local drink, before going to 3.800 meters, to bike down. If the weather is ok, you can even hike up to 4.900 meter, to the Cayambe glacier.
Papallacta – Are you more into a relaxing day? High in the andes, in a valley created by a lava flow from the Antisana volcano, you can find Papallacta. This village is known for its thermal baths, which are good for your whole body due to its minerals. You will start the day with a delicious hot chocolate and a beautiful hike in the paramo landscape.
Quilotoa – One of Ecuador’s most beautiful lakes. The view is stunning when you look over the emerald green lake, which the people believe has no bottom. Located in the Andes, you will ascend to approximately 4.000 meters, while driving through the beautiful mountains. Once descended 400 meters down the crater walls, you can explore the lake’s shore, before hiking the steep way up again. If you want, you can also rent mules. Additional to this visit, you will also visit some Ecuadorian villages.

Quito city tours – Quito, the capitol of Ecuador, is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. There is a lot of colonial history and architecture to be found in this big city. The houses and churches have their own typical architecture. Because of all the mountains and hills in this city, there are a lot of beautiful view points. We have a couple of day tours, during which you can explore the old town, the equator, or the Ecuadorian cuisine.
Otavalo – Otavalo, located in the Cayambe province, is also named the ‘cultural capital of Ecuador’. It has the famous market, where you can buy your souvenirs, typical of Ecuador (Note: the market is only on Tuesdays and Saturdays). The people who live here are the Kichwa people and still dressed in their traditional clothes. Additional to the market, you can also visit the Cuicocha lake, Cotacachi leather town, and the Peguche waterfalls (Only during the private tour).
Quilotoa – Quilotoa is known for its beautiful crater lake, and the landscapes and the views that you will witness are amazing. But this day is also very good if you want to get to know the culture of Ecuador a bit. You will start the day with the visit to a little village and a visit to a native family. Close to the Quilotoa lake is also the Tigua community, known for its paintings. The people would love to tell you something about the way they live.
