Ecuador is a very diverse country and one if it’s most beautiful provinces are the Galapagos Islands. Rebecca Adventure Travel created some tours where you can visit the capital of Ecuador (Quito) located in the middle of the Andes together with the Galapagos Islands. It is necessary to fly to the Galapagos Islands from Quito because the islands are located about 1000 KM outside the Ecuador mainland coast.

This 9 day program is specially designed if you would you to combine the amazing Galapagos and its diving and hiking excursion with the colonial city Quito. You will do 2 full day diving tours in places where manta rays, barracudas, hammerhead sharks, sea horses, and more will regularly be spotted. After this incredible experience underwater, Rebecca Adventure travels’ team will take you to the highest point on the Islands to enjoy a beautiful hike to the Sierra Negra volcano.

DAY 1:
Today you will be picked up with an English or Dutch speaking driver from the airport. You will be taken to your hotel in Quito.

DAY 2 (B, L):
After breakfast, our guide pick you up to do a City tour in the historical centre of Quito (part of the UNESCO Wold Heritage list), the Pululahua Crater and to the Equator museum (Inti Nan). You will have a local lunch in the historical center of Quito.

DAY 3 (B, L, D):
After an early breakfast you go to the airport to catch your flight from Quito to Galapagos (Baltra Airport) our transportation will take you to Puerto Ayora. This afternoon is free for you to visit the Charles Darwin Station, where you can get plenty information about the Galapagos Islands.The Charles Darwin Station is free for visitors. Before dinner our dive master will meet you in the Hotel to organize everything related to your next two days of diving.

DAY 4 (B, L, D):
After breakfast the dive guide will take you to Mosquera Islet, an easily accessed scuba diving site. Mosquera is located between North Seymour and Baltra. The maximum depth for this dive site is 30m and currents are generally mild. This site is famous for the sea lions that come and play during the dive. Sharks, turtles, rays, barracudas and tropical fish are also common in this area.

DAY 5 (B, L, D):
Another wonderful day diving in Bartolome and Cousins offers fascinating underwater landscapes, complete with terraced steps that descend to 30 meters before dropping down to a sandy bottom at 40 meters. The steps are covered with soft black coral, and are an excellent place to find pacific seahorses. The overhangs from some of the steps are the favorite places of the White Tipped reef sharks, green sea turtles, large moray eels, as well as octopi. Manta rays, hammerheads, schools of barracudas, other reef fish can also be seen at these sites and off into the blue.

DAY 6 (B, L, D):
Early in the morning you take the public speedboat to Isabela (this can be a bumpy ride). Upon arrival around 9.30 you will drop your belongings in the hotel and at 10.30 you start the snorkeling tour to Los Tuneles. This is one of the most beautiful snorkeling spots on the Galapagos Islands.

DAY 7 (B, L, D):
Early in the morning, after breakfast, you’ll take an excursion to the Sierra Negra Volcano. The Sierra Negra Volcano is located 13 miles from Puerto Villamil and has the second largest volcanic crater in the world, with 6 miles wide and 300 feet deep. To arrive at this incredible sight you will travel by bus for 45 minutes to the Galapagos National Park, where you begin the hike to the Sierra Negra Volcano. This hike takes approximately 4 hours, it starts at 870 meters of altitude and at the top of the crater you will have reached 1040 m. After that you will proceed to the Volcan Chico, where you can feel the warmth of the ground as proof of the volcano’s activity. Here you will stop for a box lunch before returning to the hotel. After a brief rest in the hotel, you’ll have the chance to go snorkeling or swimming at Concha Perla where you can observe the colourful fishes, sea urchins, starfishes, sea lions, or even sea turtles.

DAY 8 (B):
At 6 AM you will travel to Baltra Airport, but on the way you will stop by The Twins” (“The Gemelos”), which are similar to craters, but formed by a collapse of the Earth because of the lava flows that passed below it. In the afternoon you take a flight back to Quito where you have the time to relax and to prepare for your last day in Ecuador.

DAY 9 (B):
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport.

This Ecuador & Galapagos is a mixed tour with private and shared group tours. The shared group tours are a mix of group day tours and individual private day tours. Every group day tour will have different travelers. You can have a different driver/guide every day. There are different tour coordinators on every island. You can start this tour every day of the year.

  • If you are an US/Canadian citizen you can’t book the diving tours due to insurance limitations. If you still continue the booking request, unfortunately we have to decline it.
  • There are no guides on the transportation by public speedboat between islands.
  • Try to only bring small baggage/bags since public transportation on the Galapagos Islands is quite small.
  • All meals consist of basic, local Ecuadorian food. If you prefer to have dinner outside the hotel, you can get a discount of $ 10 p.p./per day. Please let us know beforehand if you want this option.
  • Tap water on the Galapagos Islands might contain bacteria and should not be consumed, not even for brushing your teeth. Bottled or purified water is always recommended.
  • Inform yourself about food safety when traveling to tropical countries. Take the necessary precaution to avoid food poisoning (always wash your hands before eating, don’t eat ‘street food’, only eat peeled fruits, etc.).
  • If you book this tour without possessing your PADI license and enough dives we will change the dive tours into snorkeling tours without giving any refunds.
  • It is mandatory to have valid travel and medical insurance. Please inform us of any known medical conditions you have.
  • Rebecca Adventure Travel reserves the right to change the itinerary without previous notice due to weather conditions,  availabilities, National Park regulations or notifications and unforeseeable circumstances.
