Experience the real Amazone and hike in the Ecuadorian Andes. In the Amazone you will kayak through nature and during the night, the Huaorani people tell you about the life in the Amazon.You will discover Ecuador’s Amazon in the Yasuni National Park, which is world famous for its tremendous biodiversity and its authentic Huaorani culture, which is still very much alive. On this trip, while kayaking down the Shiripuno River, you will see displays of parrots, toucans, macaws, king fishers, herons flying across the river, as well as curious giant otters who will approach the canoe to have a look. Many different types of monkeys will be jumping on the trees and there will be chances to spot Jaguars, the master cat predators of the jungle. The Huaorani native people will share their history, lead you to their sacred spots and you will learn about their rich connection with Mother Nature. After your Amazon adventure you will explore the Ecuadorian Andes. The Ecuadorian Andes have the most varied landscapes you’ll never find somewhere else, this is because some of the various snow peaks and volcanoes are right at the beginning of the rain forrest, so the environment transition is notorious. Ecuadorian andes are filled with high altitude beautiful volcanoes making them unmissable in your visit.

Day 1 (L, D):
Today you will catch a morning flight to Coca town and begin your adventure. You take a scenic drive to the Tiputini River at the entrance of the YASUNI National park and while the guides prepare your gear, you can enjoy a riverside picnic. Your first kayaking expedition will be paddling down this fantastic river surrounded by nature and wildlife. On the way, you will have opportunities to spot river turtles, monkeys, caimans and many species of birds like Oropendola birds, caciques,  king fishers, macaws, toucans, parrots and more. You spend the night at our campsite. Accommodation at Yasuní Campsite. 

Day 2 (B, L, D):
After a healthy breakfast, you continue your kayaking exploration, heading deeper into the jungle. Every day in the Amazon is a new adventure: the more you paddle, the more pristine and wild the jungle becomes with new exciting opportunities to encounter more wildlife, such as different types of monkeys, capybara, tapir, swallows, flycatchers, herons, sandpipers and hawks. You will also take hikes to learn more about local plants and their medicinal properties.  In the late afternoon, you will arrive at our camp site, located on the Tiputini River side. Your chef will prepare a special gourmet dinner for us tonight. Accommodation at Yasuní Campsite.

Day 3 (B, L, D):
After breakfast you start navigating by canoe down the Tiputini to reach the entrance to the Amarun – Cocha that means Anaconda Lagoon in the native language, this is located in the most pristine forest of the area and with luck you may see the biggest and most beautiful snake of the planet, enjoy breathtaking landscapes with incredible dark and clear waters in a flooded forest. Over here you will discover the mythic piranhas, caimans, boas and more. Later you will canoe back to the camp site and after a nice break at the hammocks, you will go on a night exploration to view insects, frogs and with luck some snakes. Accommodation at Yasuní Campsite.

Day 4 (B, L, D):
In the morning you will take a hike in the pristine forest to learn about the rich flora of the area and the medicinal plants. After lunch, you will take a canoe ride to a local Kichwa community to learn about their way of life in the jungle, their stories and traditions. You will also see how they make the traditional drink called chicha. In the afternoon you will go fishing. Accommodation at Yasuní Campsite.

Day 5 (B, L):
This is an early morning because you want to get to the clay lick the earliest possible. It is one of the best adventures in the jungle, visiting the Lamederos or Saladeros (parrot clay lick) where there is a big concentration of different species of parrots and macaws, and few predators surrounding the area. They come to feed on the clay from the mineral enriched ground, which helps them digest and detoxify from the poisons of their main diet. Such places are unique in the Amazon rainforest, because they offer a great chance to see a wide range of Amazon wildlife species. Later you will return to Coca and take the flight back to Quito.

Day 6 (L, D):

You start your tour with a very nice car ride from Quito through the “Volcano Avenue”; including the Pasochoa, Rumiñahui, Illinizas and others. After arriving in Isinlivi, you can enjoy a lunch and go for your first trekking exploration. Trekking time: 3 hours. Accommodation: Hostal Llullu Llama

Day 7 (B, L, D):

The magic Andean mountain landscapes inspires you today on a trek along the Toachi canyon. You will hike down to the canyon of the Toachi River and then back up to the main road that will take you to Chugchilan, a small town located on the middle of the Quilotoa loop. In the afternoon you can explore the village. Trekking time: 4 hours Accommodation: Hostal Mama Hilda

Day 8 (B, L, D):

After breakfast, you will begin your hiking adventure of 11 km (6,9 miles) on small trails blazed by the mountain people and still used by locals to transport products and to travel across canyons to reach neighboring communities. You will hike down across impressive canyons to later climb back up to the top of the crater rim, where you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the Quilotoa Lake. Trekking time: 4,5 hours Accommodation: Hosteria Shalala

Day 9 (B):

After breakfast, you will take a hike down to the base of the Quilotoa crater. Following this path, you will have an awesome view of the lake and many chances to take pictures of the turquoise water-filled caldera. In the afternoon you have a transfer to the area of Riobamba city, located in the central part of the Ecuadorian highlands. Trekking time: 2,5 hours Accommodation: Chimborazo lodge.

Day 10 (B, L):

Early in the morning, you will drive through valleys and farming villages towards the Chimborazo Volcano, the highest in Ecuador with an elevation of 6310 meters above sea level, whose summit is the world farthest point from the center of the earth. On the hike to the glacier, you can spot animals such as the Andean condor, face to face, hummingbirds, and the timid wild Vicuñas. In the evening you will soak in the famous hot springs of Baños and experience the thriving night life of this town. Trekking time: 2,5 hours Accommodation: La Floresta Hotel

Day 11 (B):

Baños is very well known for its spectacular location right on the foothills of the Tungurahua active volcano. This morning you will hit the road of the waterfalls. The first stop will be at the Bride’s Veil waterfall, where you will take the “Tarabita” (cable car) to get across the Pastaza River. Then you will hike down for one hour to the Pailon del Diablo waterfall, the second highest in Ecuador. In the afternoon drive back to Quito. Trekking time: 2 hours.
